What is the Traditional diet?

In the 1930’s, Weston A. Price, a dentist, wanted to know why Americans were so unhealthy.  (1930’s, UNHEALTHY? I know, right!)  He wanted to know what was causing the increase in tooth decay and general illness.  So he set off to find cultures untouched by modern foods to see how they were faring.  What he found was amazing.

Overall, he visited 14 different isolated traditional cultures.  Every culture hadn’t been exposed to modern foods such as white flour & refined sugar.  You would think this is a no-brainer, of course they would be healthier. And they were.

But that’s not the most amazing thing.  The most amazing thing about each one of these societies is that although they knew nothing of each other, they ate similarly high amounts of the same vitamins & fats.  Also, they weren’t just healthy, they were gorgeous, had zero cavities, broad jaws and straight teeth, strong backs, amazing fertility, longevity and VITALITY!

And not one of the 14 cultures were vegan, vegetarian or even plant-based. Depending on what was available to them, each of these 14 cultures ate a balance of:

  • Meat, grass-fed – using all parts of the animals including organs and using bones to make healing broths.

  • Grains & Legumes – but ONLY prepared properly.  Soaking for 24 hours, Sprouting, or using a natural yeast like sourdough to break down the gluten, phytic acid & anti-nutrients.

  • Seafood – and plenty of it.

  • Dairy, grass-fed – rich, high amounts of raw milk, butter, and cheese.

  • Fruits & Vegetables – but only in season.  They couldn’t grow year-round.  No green smoothies or 5-a day.  Just plentiful amounts in each season they could grow it.

But, wait!  There’s one more thing. Each of these 14 cultures had a “Sacred Food”.  And it was so vital to their health that they risked their lives to obtain it.

What was it?

Fermented oil from the organ of an animal.  (I know, sounds disgusting…and odd)

But when Dr. Price took their “Sacred Food” home and tested them, he found insane amounts of fat-soluble vitamins A, D & K2.  In fact, it was 10 times higher than the American diet in the 1930’s and processed foods hadn’t even infiltrated the shelves of Americans yet!


Who’s it for?

What if I said you could lose weight eating fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of buttery green beans? Could you imagine what it would feel like to eat dessert every night guilt-free?

Most people think traditional foods are not synonymous with weight loss. Why is that, do you think? And why, for heaven sakes, haven’t we won the war on weight loss? I believe the problem lies in fad diets. With every new diet comes more confusion. We now believe that the only way to lose weight is to jump on one of the common diet plans. We jump on either the low-carb, low-fat, or low-protein train. We watch documentaries, read diet books, listen to diet gurus and come to the conclusion that our only salvation is through eating rabbit food all day, every day. Well, take a seat people, because I’m here to tell you that ALL you have learned about losing weight and maintaining that weight loss is WRONG! Are you shocked? I’d be surprised if you weren’t. The problem with all those diets, all that nonsense, is that despite all that ridiculous food restriction, everybody just seems to be getting fatter. 


Who’s it not for?

This traditional diet is not for people who like to count calories, or use portion control. They aren't for people who like to eat low-carb, low-fat, or low-protein. They are definitely not for people who like to take weight loss pills for follow fad diets to lose weight.
